ADATA Technology, a manufacturer of high-performance DRAM modules and NAND Flash application products, is the only supplier of MSATA solid state drive to be participated in the August 12 "Ultrabook Ecosystem Symposium" organized by Intel, and will release for the first time a full range of miniature mSATA solid state drives (SSD). ADATA is sharing its extensive technological research and development results, and showing an active approach towards the new generation Small Form Factor (SSF) supply chain.
In view of the rise of flat panel computers and Ultrabooks, and the increased emphasis on mobile computing, consumer habits and demands are trending towards light weight, power, fast booting, and strong memory cache function, along with price competitiveness. These features can all be found in SSF applications. According to an iSuppli survey in early 2011, global solid state drives sales in the first quarter of 2011 have reached an unprecedented peak, and will continue to rise year by year, reaching a 42.3% in global sales by 2015. ADATA is optimistic that this wave of SSF development will lead to high market performance for SSD products, as they become the mainstream storage interface.
The XM series mSATA SSD for the desktop (Desktop) and laptop (Notebook) is available with two different interface types. In addition to the large storage capacity when using mSATA SSD as a hard disk, the mSATA can also be used as a cache buffer when used in conjunction with traditional hard drives, significantly reducing cost and increasing competitiveness for SSF market segments. In addition, the XM series is lightweight and small volume, providing a size advantage to the SSF application market. With the ability to reduce hard drive compartment space, designers have greater lea way for system design and configuration. |
