ADCTA Dharna Against E-Commerce at Jantar Mantar

A day ahead of the national traders body Confederation of All India Traders’ (CAIT) Dharna against the e-commerce companies at Jantar Mantar on October 31, Delhi based All Delhi Computers Traders Association (ADCTA) has said that it will be taking part in the protest.

CAIT has called for a nation-wide protest in the capital, seeking regulation for e-retailers from the government.

ChannelTimes has been informed that CAIT held a meeting, which was chaired by Praveen Khandelwal, Secretary General, CAIT, with a set of Delhi traders from sections like IT, general trade and mobile to discuss their issues and sought their support for the protest. ADCTA had also attended the meet on Oct. 24 .

Mahinder Aggarwal, president, ADCTA said, “We wanted government to come out with online laws and regulations and control the predatory pricing, which is hurting the business of lakhs of traders. Our Prime Minister should not be protecting few E-tailers on the cost traditional dealers.”

Swarn Singh, joint secretary, ADCTA said, “Our association is supporting the CAIT cause, since govt. bodies are not listening the voice of offline traders on unethical business practice of few E-tailers. We are seeking clarity from the government on their stand. We have already written to government agencies like CBI, CCI, SEBI, Commerce Ministry and PMO office regarding the unfair business practices of large e-retailers.”

Alok Gupta, president of PCAIT, another IT association in Delhi, he said, “Our association has not been approached by CAIT so far, but we are ready to extend support in the interest of our IT traders.”

Before setting out the Dharna, Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) had earlier called for a probe into the business model and trade practices of e-commerce companies to find out how they were offering huge discounts during the ongoing festive season.
