ATEN Unveils New PS/2 based KVM Extenders

ATEN International, a leading designer, manufacturer and distributor of advanced communication solutions, expands its ProXime series with the introduction of two PS/2 based KVM extenders, the CE350 and CE370. These feature automatic signal compensation and RS-232 serial functionality, allowing convenient access to a computer from remote PS/2 console. The CE350 and CE370 allow you to place the computer system in a safe location, away from dust and dirt in environments such as construction sites, while conveniently operating it on site from a large distance.

The compactly built CE350/CE370 allow you to control a computer system from a PS/2 console with PS/2 keyboard, monitor and PS/2 mouse from a distance of up to 150m for CE350 and up to 300m for CE370, via Cat 5e cable. Normally, skewing or desynchronizing of RGB signal color phase occurs over such large distances, causing an undesirable image. Thanks to the CE370’s patented Deskew function, this aberration is compensated by synchronizing the color phase errors with an RGB delay tuner. The CE370 also supports manual tuning and saving of R/G/B signal settings using the intuitive On Screen Display (OSD) for greater user control. In addition, both the CE350 and CE370 feature Auto Signal Compensation (ASC) with settings storage, as well as adjustable gain control to manually adjust signal strength to further compensate for losses suffered over distance.

“Our new KVM Extenders provide many advanced features which enable users to manage and control their system efficiently and conveniently from both the local and remote consoles. The built-in ASIC functionality increases the reliability and compatibility of this system. The RS-232 serial ports provide the option to connect to a serial terminal or serial devices such as touchscreens and barcode scanners at Baud Rates of up to 115200 bps,” says Kevin Chen, President of ATEN International.
