HCL Infosystems bags another Recognition

HCL Infosystems bagged the prestigious award for Best Government to Citizens (G2C) Initiative of the Year at the e-Maharashtra Summit 2013. HCL Infosystems was awarded the honour for implementing turnkey ICT solutions in design, supply, installation, automation, integration, and subsequent maintenance of India’s first state-of-the-art Border Check Post (BCP) project undertaken by the Maharashtra Government.

The first of its kind project has enabled the government of Maharashtra to modernize and expand its 22 BCPs with latest technology and brings three State Government bodies together – the Department of Transport, Department of Sales Tax and the Department of Excise. All three departments share a common ICT solution and use a single application simultaneously for their respective functional benefits. As a part of modernization, all BCPs are connected to each other and equipped with weigh bridges, electronic payment and accounting, video cameras and radio frequency identification devices. The receipts for collecting taxes are being generated within minutes, facilitating smooth passage, monitoring and navigating visitors smoothly and efficiently, reducing processing time for commercial vehicles, and assisting the sales tax and excise department in collecting revenue at BCPs.

The e-Maharashtra awards are dedicated to most innovative initiatives in the domain of ICTs and have been acknowledging regional initiatives in the use of ICT in government and education. The awards are open for all national and international organisations, civil society organisations, bi-lateral, multi-lateral developmental organisations and enterprises working in Maharashtra who have transformed social development opportunities into a sustainable social enterprise through innovative use of ICTs.
